Handicap format description:
A Handicap event provides an exciting format allowing player-matchups that would not happen in traditional tournaments. All players are provided a handicap (based on their playing level) that they carry for the entirety of the event. The higher the skill of the player, the more they are handicapped by starting further away from 15. For example, player 1 (higher skilled) has a -10 handicap and player 2 (lower skilled) has a +7. The starting score is -10 to +7 for each game, first player to get to 15 wins the game.
House rules for events:
The highest score a player may start a game at is +10. If a player carries a handicap higher than that (+12), they will start at +10 and their opponent will assume an additional 2-point deficit.
If both players carry a negative handicap, the player closer to 0 will start at 0 and their opponent’s handicap will improve closer to 0 the same amount. For example, player 1 has -15 handicap and player 2 has -5 handicap. Player 1 starts at -10 and player 2 starts at 0.
If both players carry a positive handicap, the player closest to 0 will start at 0 and their opponent will start closer to 0 by as many points. For example, player 1 has +5 handicap and player 2 has +10 handicap. Player 1 starts at 0 and player 2 starts at +5.
Additional clarifications are available at the front desk prior to the event.
