Global Squash League Rules

Players:

  • All players must be members in good standing at Global Gym
  • Players must play at their appropriate level or above.

Points system:

  • Individual matches are best-of-five games, Point A Rally (PAR) 11 scoring. In the event a game ties at 10-10, the game must then be won by 2 points. Click the link for Squash Rules.
  • 1 point for every game won in the individual matches, plus 1 bonus points for the team that wins the series of matches.

Penalty points:

  • No Shows: A no-show is a player who does not show up for a match and has not told his opponent. This is considered unacceptable and the no-show's team will be deducted 50% of their match points and an automatic 3-0 loss which will be recorded towards your BC ranking. There is a zero tolerance policy for this behaviour. If a player no-shows 3 times in the season, that player will be removed from the league. It is your individual responsibility to ensure that your opponent knows that you are not coming and your responsibility to find a sub.
  • Please note that penalty points only affect your team score and not your personal score.

Referees:

  • All matches should be refereed. Normal protocol is winning player refs the next match.

Recording results:

  • Players must use the Score Squash app to record results. Browse Events to find your match and appropriately record the match.

Spares:

  • In the event that a player cannot play in a regularly scheduled match, YOU MUST FIND A PLAYER TO SPARE. Try the Spares list first before contacting a regular player to play twice in a night. Players should play at their level or higher (not lower).

Challenges:

  • In the event that a player feels they are improperly ranked on their team, they have the right to challenge the player ranked above them.
  • Challenged players must play the challenge match within 2 weeks of being challenged. Otherwise, the challenge match is awarded to the challenger.
  • Winner of the challenge match plays at the higher level, loser plays at the lower level until a new successful challenge is made.
  • Team Captains may modify the above challenge rules in unusual circumstances, in order to facilitate fairness and good sportsmanship.

Penalty points -- a summary:

  • Late posting of results will result in a deduction of 50% team match points for the offending team (deadline Friday midnight).
  • Rescheduling of a match results in 1 penalty point to the requesting team.
  • A no-show (without adequate notification) results in a 50% deduction of total team points for that event. 3 no-shows by any player during the season result in league ejection for that player.
  • Penalty points only affect your team score and not your personal score.
